Review Guidelines for the Journal of the Korean Electrochemical Society

• 1. Manuscript reviews and decisions follow this policy. The same policy applies to not only research paper but also communication, comment and reply, and review paper.
• 2. More than two reviewers are designated for a manuscript. Reviewers are appointed by editors and their names are not revealed to the author(s).
• 3. Decision outcomes are "acceptable" or "not acceptable". The manuscript can be acceptable "without revision", "after revision", or "for second reviews after revision".
  • (1) A manuscript "acceptable without revision" is accepted without revision.
  • (2) A manuscript "acceptable after revision" is accepted after the author(s) revise(s) the manuscript according to comments of reviewers and with approval of the revised manuscript by the reviewers.
  • (3) A manuscript "for second reviews after revision" is resubmitted to reviewers for second reviews after the author(s) revise(s) the manuscript according to comments of the reviewers.
  • (4) English proofreading may be required for accepted manuscripts if deemed necessary by editors.
• 4. Review comments are revealed only to author(s) and not publicized.
• 5. In one of the following cases, reviewers may decide that an article is "acceptable after revision" or "for second reviews after revision" and provide detailed comments requesting revision or improvement.
  • (1) The meaning of a statement is not clear.
  • (2) A symbol used in or an explanation for a figure or table is not clear or coherent.
  • (3) Other cases that require revision or improvement
• 6. In one of the following cases, reviewers may decide that an article is "not acceptable" and provide detailed reasons for rejection.
  • (1) The article is not creative enough.
  • (2) The article makes no contribution to existing research outcomes.
  • (3) The article is not appropriate for the journal.
  • (4) Reviewers have not received a proper reply or a revised manuscript within 2 months after requesting revision.
• 7. When editors decide that an article does not conform to the policy of the journal, they may refuse to receive the manuscript.
• 8. When a manuscript written in a foreign language has a statement that is contextually unclear or grammatically indecipherable, editors may request a revision or recommend a resubmission after the author(s) rewrite(s) the article in Korean.
• 9. When one reviewer decides an article "acceptable" and the other "not acceptable", editors can have the final say or ask the article to be reviewed by a third reviewer. The article will be published or not in the journal according to the decision of the third reviewer. When the third reviewer cannot decide, editors have the final say.
• 10. Editors make the final decision on whether to publish an article or not. One editor may delegate the decision making to another editor.
• 11. Reviewers shall review an article and report their decision and comments via the journal's online submission system within 2 weeks after they are asked to review the article.
• 12. If reviewers do not reply within 30 days after being asked for a review, the request for a review may be withdrawn.
• 13. Editors shall notify reviewers' comments to the author within 10 days after they receive the comments.
• 14. When an article is decided to be published, the decision shall be notified to the author as soon as possible.

“전기화학회지” 논문심사규정

• 1. 논문의 심사 및 채택은 본 규정에 따른다. 연구논문(research paper)뿐만 아니라 단신(communication), 연구교신(comment and reply), 총설(review paper)도 논문으로 취급한다.
• 2. 논문의 심사는 2명 이상의 심사위원에게 의뢰한다. 심사위원은 편집위원이 위촉하며, 그 명단은 발표하지 않는다.
• 3. 심사 결과는 "채택가"와 "채택불가"로 판정하고, 채택가의 경우 "무수정", "수정 후 채택", "수정 후 재심"으로 구분한다.
  • (1) "채택가" 중 "무수정"으로 판정된 논문은 수정 없이 채택한다.
  • (2) "채택가" 중 "수정 후 채택"으로 판정된 논문은 심사위원이 지적한 사항을 저자가 수정한 후 편집위원이 이를 확인하여 채택한다.
  • (3) "채택가" 중 "수정 후 재심"으로 판정된 논문은 심사위원이 지적한 사항을 저자가 수정한 후 해당 심사위원에게 재심을 의뢰한다.
  • (4) 편집위원이 필요하다고 인정할 경우, 채택된 논문에 대하여 출판 전 영문 교정을 요구할 수 있다.
• 4. 심사내용은 저자에게만 통보하고 공표하지 않는다.
• 5. 논문의 내용이 아래의 어느 항에 해당된다고 심사위원이 인정할 경우에는 "수정 후 채택" 또는 "수정 후 재심"으로 판정하고, 해당 사항을 구체적으로 심사평란에 지적하여 이를 수정 또는 보충할 것을 요구할 수 있다.
  • (1) 내용의 서술이 분명하지 않은 경우
  • (2) 그림과 표에 관한 표시 또는 설명이 불충분하거나 분명하지 않은 경우와 일관성이 없는 경우
  • (3) 그 밖에 수정과 보충이 필요하다고 판단될 경우
• 6. 논문의 내용이 아래의 어느 항에 해당된다고 심사위원이 인정할 경우에는 "채택불가"로 판정하고 그 이유를 구체적으로 심사평란에 지적하여야 한다.
  • (1) 독창성이 뚜렷하지 않은 경우
  • (2) 저자가 연구한 결과와 타인이 이미 연구한 결과 사이에 뚜렷한 차이가 없는 경우
  • (3) 기타 본 학술지에 게재하기에 부적당하다고 판단되는 경우
  • (4) 편집위원이 저자에게 수정을 요구한지 2개월 이내에 적절한 회신 및 수정된 원고를 받지 못한 경우
• 7. 논문이 논문투고 규정에 맞지 않다고 편집위원이 인정할 경우에는 이를 접수하지 아니할 수 있다.
• 8. 외국어로 작성된 원고에서 문맥이 분명하지 않거나 문법적으로 그 해독이 곤란할 경우에는 편집위원이 저자에게 수정을 요구하거나 국문으로 작성하여 재투고할 것을 권장할 수 있다.
• 9. 심사위원 중 1명이 "채택가", 다른 1명이 "채택불가"로 판정할 경우 편집위원이 채택여부를 결정하거나 제 3의 심사위원에게 논문의 심사를 의뢰할 수 있다. 제 3의 심사위원에게 의뢰할 경우 제 3의 심사위원이 "채택가" 또는 "채택불가"로 판정하면 이 판정에 따라 논문을 처리하고, 만일 가부판정을 확실히 할 수 없을 경우에는 편집위원이 게재여부를 결정한다.
• 10. 별다른 이유가 없는 한 투고된 논문은 편집위원이 최종 게재여부를 결정한다. 단, 편집위원은 필요에 따라 다른 편집위원에게 업무를 위임할 수 있다.
• 11. 심사위원은 심사 위촉 후 2주일 이내에 논문을 심사하고, 판정결과와 심사평을 본 학술지 온라인 논문투고 시스템을 이용하여 보고하여야 한다.
• 12. 심사위원이 심사 위촉 후 30일 이내에 심사의견을 제출하지 아니할 경우에는 심사의뢰를 취소할 수 있다.
• 13. 편집위원은 심사위원의 심사의견을 받은 후 10일 이내에 그 내용을 저자에게 통지한다.
• 14. 논문이 채택된 경우 빠른 시일 내에 저자에게 게재예정사항을 알린다.
